Difficult to determine if he’s a tweaker or a crack head, but the presumed Iranian, rasta-cowboy hat rockin, Dirty Harry trenchcoat totin’ personality I pass those mornings riding Villeray between De Lormier and St Michel brings a smile to my face like no other. The guy is such an inspiration and ray of blinding light that I haven’t built up the courage to ask his name. He may have flushed down the road of addiction, but the way he sways and dances along the sidewalk with the smile of a million Unicef posters exudes a special sense of living. It’s a great coincidence to see this guy on a weekly basis since July.

Kinda like boarding a plane departing YUL, then driving through El Triunfo (pop. 341) 10 days later and seeing your flight neighbour. Then, in researching said town, to discover dapper-dressed flight neighbour is actually Maestro Nicolas Carrillo Castro. Also to note, the town’s El Pacifico tienda sells Ballena’s for 17 Mpesos on Sunday’s –  that’s a 2 Mpeso discount KMart shoppers!
